About me

I’m Floris van Beers, an independent ML and AI engineer and architect. I work from Groningen under the name Kroshtan, remotely or hybrid, and I prefer short engagements: a few weeks to a few months, with a clear goal and a proper handover at the end.

Most recently I was an MLOps engineer at Springer Nature, from December 2024 to September 2026. There I worked on machine learning systems running in production at an international scientific publisher: not the model in the notebook, but everything it takes to make that model a service that keeps working.

Before that I spent three years as an ML engineer at Web-IQ in Groningen, from 2021 to 2024. In 2021 I also did a deep learning internship at Intel.

I studied Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen, first the BSc and then the MSc, and was a teaching assistant three times along the way. I still enjoy explaining how things work, which is why I also teach and give talks.
